How to connect the BRAVIA TV to a network using a wireless connection (Wi-Fi network)
Wi-Fi Direct is a function allows you to wirelessly connect a device to the TV without using a wireless router, and then stream videos, photos, and music from that device directly to the TV.

Before you start
- Make sure your TV software is updated to the latest version.
- Depending on your TV model, the device that you are using, or regions/countries, some functions may not be available.
- Not all TVs have the Wi-Fi Direct feature. To see if your product supports the Wi-Fi Direct feature, check the specifications or the supplied manual.

Set up and use the Wi-Fi Direct feature
Activate the Wi-Fi Direct mode on the TV and establish a connection with the device. Once the setup is complete, media can be shared between the device and the TV.
Step 1. Setting up Wi-Fi Direct feature of the TV
Note: For your TV model, refer to the article How to check if your BRAVIA TV is a Google TV™, Android TV™, or other TV.
Follow the steps below:
- Enable the Built-in Wi-Fi setting on your TV.
- On the remote control, press the HOME button.
- Select Settings.
- Select System Settings.
- Select Set-up.
- Select Network.
- Select Built-in Wi-Fi.
- Select On.
- Turn on the Wi-Fi Direct setting of the TV.
- On the remote control, press the HOME button.
- Select Settings.
- Select System Settings.
- Select Set-up.
- Select Network.
- Select Wi-Fi Direct,
- Select On.
- Display the WPA Key of the TV.
- On the remote control, press the HOME button.
- Select Settings.
- Select System Settings.
- Select Set-up.
- Select Network.
- Select Wi-Fi Direct Settings.
- Press the Options button.
- Select Manual.
- Select Other Method.
Note: The SSID and the WPA Key will be displayed on the TV screen. - On the Wi-Fi setting of the Wi-Fi Direct device, select the SSID of the TV and enter the WPA Key displayed on the TV screen as the password. For details, refer to Step 2. Connect a device to the TV and send content.
Follow the steps below:
- Enable the Built-in Wi-Fi setting on your TV.
- On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
- Select Settings.
- Select System Settings or Network.
Note: If the TV shows Network, skip to Step 6. - Select Setup.
- Select Wi-Fi Setup.
- Select Built-in Wi-Fi or Built-in Wireless LAN, and set it to ON.
- Turn on the Wi-Fi Direct setting of the TV.
- On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
- Select Settings.
- Select System Settings or Network.
Note: If the TV shows Network, skip to Step 6. - Select Setup.
- Select Wi-Fi Setup.
- Select Wi-Fi Direct, and set it to ON.
- Display the WPA key of the TV.
- On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
- Select Settings.
- Select System Settings or Network.
Note: If the TV shows Network, skip to Step 6. - Select Setup.
- Select Wi-Fi Setup.
- Select Wi-Fi Direct Settings.
- Press the Options button.
- Select Manual.
- Select Other Method.
- The SSID and the WPA Key will be displayed on the TV screen.
- On the Wi-Fi setting of the Wi-Fi Direct device, select the SSID of the TV and enter the WPA Key displayed on the TV screen as the password. For details, refer to Step 2. Connect a device to the TV and send content.
IMPORTANT: Some models require the UWA-BR100 USB Wireless LAN adapter to be connected to the TV to enable this feature. For model-specific information, check the specifications or supplied operations guide.
Follow the steps below:
- On the remote control, press the HOME button.
- Select Applications.
- Select Wi-Fi Direct or Wi-Fi Direct Mode.
- Connect the Wi-Fi Direct device to the TV. For details, refer to Step 2. Connect a device to the TV and send content.
If Wi-Fi Direct connection fails, follow these steps:
- Press the Options button.
- Select Manual.
- Select either WPS or Other Methods.
- For WPS (Push Button) connection
- On the device, go to the wireless network setting screen, select WPS (if capable, for automatic setup), or perform a scan to connect to the TV.
- The WPS setting is not available on all Wi-Fi Direct-capable devices. Check the manual supplied with the device for information regarding the WPS setting.
- Other Methods
- The SSID and the WPA Key that appears on the TV will have to be entered into the device.

Step 2. Connecting your device to the TV
To establish a connection with an iPhone or iPad, follow the steps below:
- Select Settings → Wi-Fi, and turn it On.
- Tap Direct-xx-BRAVIA on the mobile device’s screen to display the password input screen.
- Enter the WPA key (password) displayed on the TV screen, then tap Join.
- Allow a few minutes for the connection to be established, and for the Settings screen to appear.
If a checkmark is displayed at SSID on the mobile device side and a dashed line is displayed on the TV side, the connection is established normally.
Note: If a connection is not established, re-attempt the steps above and make sure that the WPA Password is entered correctly.
Once the setup is complete, media can be shared between the mobile device and the TV using applications such as iMediaShare software. - Select MENU → (Network) → View on TV → then, select the TV.
- When you want to play images using a slideshow, press the center of the control wheel.
Troubleshooting
If the device cannot connect to the TV, refer to the article The Wi-Fi Direct or Screen mirroring function doesn't work.
