There is no sound, poor sound, or low volume coming from the TV speakers.

• Common issues

  These steps provide easy solutions to common issues that occasionally occur.

  Check if the issue is resolved after each step is performed.

  • Try increasing the volume of your TV.
    Note: If you have a set-top box (cable box, satellite, etc.) or sound system connected to your TV, you may need to increase the volume of the connected device.
  • Make sure the TV isn't muted. Check your TV remote for a MUTE button. Pressing the MUTE button will toggle the mute function on and off.
    Note: If you're using a set-top box or sound system connected to your TV with a mute function, ensure this device is also not muted.
  • Try turning off your TV, any set-top box device (cable box, satellite, etc.), and sound system if connected to your TV, and then turn them back on.
  • Make sure you don't have headphones or any other devices connected to the headphone jack on the TV.
  • Try switching to a different channel or streaming service. An issue can occur with the broadcast of certain channels or streaming services.
  • Check the cable connections to your TV from your set-top box (cable box, satellite, etc.) or audio system. A loose or defective cable could cause an issue with your sound.

• Power restart or reset

  Performing a power restart or reset of your TV or connected devices often resolves common issues.

  • Power restart or reset your TV:

    You may be able to perform a power restart of your TV using the remote control or a menu option on your TV (depending on the model), otherwise perform a power reset.

    • Power restart your TV

      Steps vary, follow the steps that best match your TV menu:

      1. Restart the TV with the supplied remote control:
         • Press and hold the POWER button until Power Off appears on the screen
         • Press and hold the POWER button until a menu appears → select Restart
      2. Restart the using the TV menu:
         • On the supplied remote, press the  (Quick Settings) button, then select → Settings → System → Restart → Restart
         • On the supplied remote, press the HOME button, then select Settings → About → Restart → Restart
         • On the supplied remote, press the HOME button, then select Settings → Device Preferences → About → Restart → Restart

      Note: When restarting using your remote or the menu, the TV will automatically turn off and back on after a short time.

    • Power reset your TV
      1. Turn off the TV.
         Note: For a projection TV that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the TV to allow the lamp to cool before continuing.
      2. Unplug the TV power cord from the electrical outlet and leave it unplugged for at least 60 seconds.
      3. Plug the TV power cord back in and turn it on.
  • Power reset your set-top box (cable box, satellite, etc.) or sound system:
    1. Turn off your set-top box or sound system.
    2. Unplug the power cord for the device from the electrical outlet and leave it unplugged for at least 60 seconds.
    3. Plug the power cord back in and turn it on.

• Audio settings & problem diagnosis

  Check your audio settings and available steps to help diagnose the issue.

  The steps and options will vary by device, if you need specific details for your model, check your device manuals. Manuals are posted on your model support page. .

  1. Check your TV speaker settings to ensure that TV Speakers are selected
     The steps provided are an example, your steps may vary.

     1. On the supplied remote control, press the  (Quick Settings) or HOME button (depending on your remote).
     2. Select  Settings.
     3. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
        • Select Display & Sound → Audio Out → Speakers → TV Speakers
        • Select Sound → Speakers → TV Speakers
  2. Run the Problem diagnosis for Picture/Sound symptoms.

     Some TV models provide a Problem diagnosis option for Picture/Sound symptoms, if available, try performing the diagnosis using the Help button on your remote:

     1. Disconnect all devices connected to your TV.
     2. On the supplied remote, press the Help button.
     3. Select Problem dignosis.
     4. Select Picture/Sound symptoms.
     5. Select Start.
        • If you hear sound from your TV speakers during this test, the TV is working properly and the issue is caused by another device or setting. Continue your troubleshooting to determine the cause.
        • If there's no sound from the TV speakers during this test, before considering a repair, reset your TV to the original factory settings.
  3. For TV models with an MTS (Mutli-Channel Television Sound) setting in the audio menu, set it to MAIN or STEREO.
     Note: If the source device is not set to stereo or is not capable of transmitting a stereo signal, sound may only come out of one speaker on the TV, and the volume will sound low. In this case, adjust or replace the source device.
  4. If your TV has a Simulated effect setting in the audio menu, turn it off.
  5. If your TV has a Volume Offset setting in the audio menu, set it to a higher or maximum value.
  6. If you're using a soundbar or AV receiver/home theater system with center speaker support, ensure the TV speakers are not set as the center speaker.
     Note: Some TVs allow the TV speakers to act as the center channel speaker when using certain audio systems. Additional information is available for little or no sound from TV speakers with a soundbar or home theater system connected to the S-CENTER port.
  7. Verify the speakers are set to ON in the TV menu.
     Note: If the TV has audio output jacks that are connected to a stereo system, then the speakers on the TV may be turned off. Some TVs require the internal speakers or the center speaker setting to be off before audio can be sent out to a stereo receiver via the audio out jacks.
  8. If your TV has Headphone/Audio-Out settings in the Sound menu, set it to Audio-Out.

• Additional troubleshooting

  Check the additional steps and the option to reset the TV to the original factory settings.

  • Test your TV for sound using another source like a DVD player or Blu-ray Disc™ player.
  • Try replacing the cables connecting your source device (cable box, satellite, etc.) or audio system to your TV.
  • Update your TV to the latest software version . Refer to the article How to perform a software update for additional information.
  • If the issue is not resolved after performing the steps provided, you can reset the TV to the original factory settings.
    • Reset your Google TV or Android TV to the original factory settings.
    • Reset your LCD or Projection TV to the original factory settings.
