    How can I confirm that the addressee has received the message I sent with Outlook Express Ver.5.*?

    To confirm that the addressee has received the message you sent, you can establish settings to receive the read receipt of the e-mail you sent with Outlook Express Ver.5.01 and later versions. The read receipt is sent to the sender when the addressee has viewed the received message.

    This function serves to notify the addressee of the urgency of a message or to check if the addressee has received the message without mistake.
    * Using this function requires the addressee to have Outlook Express Ver.5.01 or later versions installed to his/her machine and that he/she must have made the settings of sending a read receipt to the sender. Please refer to the following procedure for the settings of the sender and receiver:

    --Procedure--
    A. Settings for the sender
    - Receiving the read receipt of each message

    1) Click the [File] menu of the [Outlook Express] window and click [Mail Message] from [New].
    The [New Message] window appears.
    2) Click the [Tools] menu on the [New Message] window and click [Request Read Receipt].

    - Receiving the read receipt for all messages

    1) Click the [Tools] menu on the [Outlook Express] window and click [Options].
    The [Options] dialog box appears.
    2) Click the [Receipts] tab of the [Options] dialog box.
    3) Select the [Request a read receipt for all sent messages] checkbox in the [Requesting Read Receipts] box.

    B. Settings for the receiver

    1) Click the [Tools] menu on the [Outlook Express] window and click [Options].
    The [Options] dialog box appears.
    2) Click the [Receipts] tab of the [Options] dialog box.
    3) Click the [Always send a read receipt] option button in the [Returning Read Receipts] box.

    * In the [Returning Read Receipts] box, there are also options of selecting [Never send a read receipt] or [Notify me for each read receipt request]. The functions of each option is as follow:

    - [Never send a read receipt]: Selecting this option would not send a read receipt.

    - [Notify me for each read receipt request]: When you receive a message requesting a read receipt, you are notified whether or not you want to send the read receipt.

    - [Returning Read Receipts]: When you receive a message requesting a read receipt, the read receipt is automatically returned to the sender.
