    How to display, open and clear My Recent Documents on the Windows XP Start menu?




    To display My Recent Documents folder, follow the steps below.
    1. Right-click Start or the taskbar, and then click Properties.
    2. In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box, click the Start Menu tab, and then click Customize.
    3. In the Customize Start Menu dialog box, click the Advanced tab. Select the List my most recently opened documents check box and click OK.

    To open a recently used document, follow the steps below.
    1. Click Start, and then click My Recent Documents.
    2. Click the file to be opened.

    To clear the contents of My Recent Documents, follow the steps below.
    1. Right-click Start or the taskbar, and then click Properties.
    2. In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box, click the Start Menu tab, and then click Customize.
    3. In the Customize Start Menu dialog box, click the Advanced tab. Click the Clear List button and click OK.

    Note:
    Files that are created by some programs cannot be added to My Recent Documents. As such, they are not shown in My Recent Documents.
    To open a file not shown in My Recent Documents, click Search on the Start menu to search for the file.
