    How to perform recording with Sound Recorder?

    A. To record sound from an external device such as a microphone

    Please follow the steps below:
    1. Connect a microphone to the VAIO computer.
    2. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, Entertainmentand click Volume Control.
    3. Click the Options tab and click Properties.
    4. Select the Recording option and click OK.
    5. Ensure the Microphone option is selected.
    6. Adjust the sound volume and balance to the desired level and close the Recording Control dialog box.
    7. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, Entertainmentand click Sound Recorder.
    8. Click Record and the recording will start.
    9. When the recording completes, click Stop.
    10. Click the File tab and click Save as.
    11. Specify a location to save the file, enter a file name and click OK.
    12. The recorded sound will be saved as a WAV file.

    B. To record the sound played back with the VAIO computer (e.g. audio CD playback)
    Please follow the steps below:
    1. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, Entertainmentand click Volume Control.
    2. Click the Options tab and click Properties.
    3. Select the Recording option.
    4. Ensure the CD Audio option is selected and click OK.
    * Depending on models, CD Audio is shown as CD Player or CD-ROM.
    5. Adjust the sound volume and balance to desired level and close the Recording Control dialog box.
    6. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, Entertainmentand click Sound Recorder.
    7. Playback the audio CD.
    8. Click Record and the recording will start.
    9. When the recording completes, click Stop.
    10. Click the File tab and click Save as.
    11. Specify a location to save the file, enter a file name and click OK.
    12. The recorded sound will be saved as a WAV file.
