The SIM card is locked, what can I do? (Android 9 or Higher)
Valid for
- Xperia devices running on Android 9.0 or higher.
Solution
If you enter your PIN (Personal Identification Number) code incorrectly several times, the SIM card is locked. You then need the PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) code to unlock the device. The PIN and PUK codes are used to protect your subscription and device against unauthorised use. To get help with your PIN and PUK codes, contact your network operator.
To unlock a blocked SIM card using the PUK code
- Enter the PUK code, then tap OK or the arrow.
- Enter a new PIN code, then tap OK or the arrow.
- Re-enter the new PIN code, then tap OK or the arrow.
Note! If you enter an incorrect PUK code too many times, you need to contact your network operator to get a new SIM card.
SIM card protection
You can lock and unlock each SIM card that you use in your device with a PIN (Personal Identity Number). When a SIM card is locked, the subscription linked to the card is protected against misuse, meaning that you have to enter a PIN every time you start your device.
