How to connect to a wireless access point in Windows 8?

    Notes
    • Please make sure to have the wireless switch turned on for models that comes with a wireless hardware button. Refer to the user guide if you are unsure if your VAIO PC comes with a wireless hardware button
    • Please confirm that the Wi-Fi option is turned on within PC Settings. To turn-on the Wi-Fi folloe the steps below:
      1. Display the Charms menu by placing the cursor on the top right hand corner or bottom right hand corner.
      2. Select Settings.
         
      3. Select Change PC settings.
         
      4. Select the Wireless category.
      5. Confirm that the Wi-Fi is set to ON.

    From the Charms menu

    1. Display the Charms menu by placing the cursor on the top right hand corner or bottom right hand corner.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select the Wireless icon.
       
    4. Confirm that the Airplane mode is set to Off. Please set it to off if it’s currently turned on.
       
    5. Select the prefered wireless network to connect.
    6. Place a checkmark to Connect automatically if you prefer to connect to this access point automatically.
    7. Select Connect. Enter a passkey if prompted.
    8. Select the prefered sharing options:.
      • No, don’t turn on sharing or connect to device (For networks in public places).
      • Yes, turn on sharing and connect to devices (For home or work networks).
          

    From the Desktop

    1. Select the Wireless icon located to the right within the taskbar.
    2. Confirm that the Airplane mode is set to Off. Please set it to off if it’s currently turned on
    3. Select the prefered wireless network to connect.
    4. Place a checkmark to Connect automatically if you prefer to connect to this access point automatically.
    5. Select Connect. Enter a passkey if prompted.
    6. Select the preferred sharing options:
      • No, don’t turn on sharing or connect to device (For networks in public places).
      • Yes, turn on sharing and connect to devices (For home or work networks).
