Manually configuring a wireless network connection.

    Follow these steps to manually configure a wireless network connection.

    IMPORTANT: You will need to have the following Network information before following the steps in this solution:

    • SSID or Network Name
    • Security type
    • Encryption type
    • Security Key or Password
    1. Press the Windows Logo + X key combination on the keyboard and, from the list, click Control Panel.Image

      NOTES: Because the Control Panel is a traditional Windows Desktop application, if you were not already there, the interface will change to the Desktop and the Control Panel window will open.

    2. In the Control Panel window, click Network and Internet.
    3. In the Network and Internet screen, click Network and Sharing Center.
    4. In the Network and Sharing Center screen, click Set up a new connection or network. Image
    5. Select Manually connect to a wireless network. Image
    6. Select Next.
    7. Enter the information for the wireless network. Image

      NOTE: The SSID and Security Key settings are case sensitive, so it is important to make sure that they are entered exactly as found on your router or access point.

    8. Select Next.
    9. If the information is entered correctly, the Successfully added Another Network window will appear. If this window does not appear, verify the information and repeat the steps above. Image
