VAIO does not power on and no boot.

    Please refer to the steps below to solve this issue.

    STEP 1:
    It is first advisable to check if the AC adapter is free from any defect.

    1. Make sure that your are using a genuine Sony rechargeable battery pack and AC adapter.
    2. Make sure that you are using the correct AC adapter for your model.
    3. Make sure your computer is securely plugged into a power source and turned on and the power indicator light is lit.
      (see figure 1)

    4. Check for visible damage on either the AC Adapter connectors, or the VAIO AC Inlet.

    STEP 2:
    If the LED is on, this suggests that the AC adapter is working fine.

    1. Disconnect any device from the computer. (e.g. printer, keyboard, mouse, port replicator, etc.).
    2. Remove the battery pack from the computer (see figure 2) or press and hold the battery off button (see figure 3).

    3. Connect the computer to the AC adapter.Turn the computer on.

    STEP 3:
    Please remove any of the components that you have recently added or changed, then restart the computer. (e.g. RAM, hard disk drive, etc.)

    STEP 4:
    Restore the system to the Last Known Good Configuration.
    To do this, please go through following steps:

    1. Make sure the VAIO is shut down completely.
    2. Boot the VAIO, and press the F8 button multiple times. The Windows boot menu will show.
    3. Use the arrow keys to select Last Known Good Configuration (advanced).
    4. Press Enter. The computer will restart immediately.

    STEP 5:
    Check for viruses using Antivirus Software.
    1. Open the installed Antivirus software and click Scan the computer.
    2. If a virus was detected, please apply Antivirus software removal tool.

    STEP 6:
    Perform recovery using F10 or ASSIST button

    1. Press ASSIST button when VAIO is already in shutdown mode. It will load the VAIO Care (Rescue Mode).
    2. Click on Start troubleshooting (recovery).
    3. Click on English (United States) on Language Selection
    4. Click on US on Keyboard Layout Selection.
    5. On the next window, click Troubleshoot.
    6. Under Troubleshoot tab, click VAIO Recovery.
    7. Choose the Operating System.
    8. On VAIO Rescue Mode, click on Select English and start VAIO Care (Rescue Mode).
    9. Click on Wizard.
    10. Click on Skip rescue.
    11. Click on Yes, I’m sure. and then click on Start recovery.
    12. Follow on-screen instructions.
      Note: It will take approximately 3 hours to finish recovery.

    1. Close all open programs and turn off the computer.
    2. Disconnect all network connections.
    3. Disconnect all peripheral devices.
    4. Turn on the computer.
    5. When the VAIO screen is displayed, press the F10 key.
      Notes:
      • If an Edit Boot Options screen appears, press the Enter key.
      • If a Windows Boot Manager screen appears, select VAIO Recovery Environment and then press the Enter key.

    6. In the VAIO Recovery Center window, under Choose a program, click to select the desired option:
      • VAIO Hardware Diagnostics - Computer problems related to hardware can be diagnosed using this option.
      • Restore C: Drive - This option is used to recovery the entire C: drive partition to its original factory software configuration.
      • Restore Complete System - This option is used to delete all hard drive partitions and recovery the system to its original factory software configuration.
      • Rescue Data - This option can be used to detect and save data to an external hard drive or removable media prior to a system recovery.
