    • Applicable firmware versions:
      • If the firmware of your unit is version "M 11 / S 03" or above, you do not need to perform the update

    How to confirm the firmware version on the main unit

    1. Turn the main unit "ON"
    2. Press and hold the "SRC" button for 1 second on the main unit to turn the source off and display the clock
    3. Press the "MENU" button
    4. Turn the control dial to display "GENERAL", and press the control dial
    5. Turn the control dial to display "SET FIRMWARE", and press the control dial
    6. Turn the control dial to display "FW VERSION", and press the control dial. The current firmware version is then displayed.

    Install

    1. Preparation: how to prepare a USB storage device for the firmware update

    1. Connect the USB device to your PC and make sure you format it, selecting the FAT16 or FAT32 file system
    2. Make sure your PC is connected to the Internet
    3. Download the update file to your PC
      • File name: CDXG120xU_M11S03.zip
      • File size: 484 KB (496,283 byte)
    4. Please unzip the downloaded zip file
    5. Copy the "CDXG120xU_M11S03.U88" file under the root directory of the USB device that is connected to your PC
      Note: The update will not be performed if the file is not copied to the root directory of the USB device or if the name of the file is modified
    6. Disconnect the USB device from your PC

    2. Update: how to update the firmware of the main unit using the USB storage device

    Notes:

    • This update procedure (in your car or boat) takes approximately 2 minutes to complete
    • Please make sure you follow all the steps indicated below
    • To prevent the battery voltage from becoming too low during the update process, it is recommended to perform this update with the car (or boat) engine running. Before starting the update process with the car (or boat) engine running, make sure the vehicle is parked in a safe place and keep the engine running until the update is complete.

    1. Turn the main unit "ON"
    2. Press and hold the "SRC" button for 1 second on the main unit to turn the source off and display the clock
    3. Press the "MENU" button
    4. Turn the control dial to display "GENERAL", and press the control dial
    5. Turn the control dial to display "SET FIRMWARE", and press the control dial
    6. Turn the control dial to display "FW UPDATE", and press the control dial
    7. Turn the control dial to display "FW UPDATE-YES", and press the control dial
    8. When the message "INSERT USB" is displayed, connect the USB storage device to the USB port on the front panel of the main unit
    9. The update should finish in approximately 2 minutes and when finished and successful, the unit will restart automatically
    10. Confirm that the firmware version is updated to version M 11 / S 03
