Solution

When you install an app from Google Play on a device, you control what capabilities or information the app is permitted to access. You don't have to decide whether you want to grant a permission until the app needs the permission and is asking you to allow it (not when you install the app).

For example, an app might want permission to see your device contacts. If you don't allow the app to use your contacts, the app might not work. If an app doesn't work, try to turn on and allow permissions in app settings.

To grant or deny permissions

Android 10, 11, 12 or 13 or 14

1. Find and tap Settings > Apps & notifications > See all [number of apps] apps.
2. Find and tap the relevant app.
3. Tap Permission.
4. Tap on the options and tap Allow or Deny (Don't allow).

Android 9

1. Find and tap Settings > Apps & notifications > See all [number of apps] apps.
2. Find and tap the relevant app.
3. Tap Permission.
4. Tap the slider beside each permission to turn it on or off.
