How to wall mount your TV (X80H, X90H, X91H, X95H series of 55, 65 inches)

This page is a guide for using the compatible Wall Mount Unit (SU-WL450) to mount the X80H, X90H, X91H and X95H series (55 inch and 65 inch) on a wall.

    IMPORTANT:
For product protection and safety reasons, Sony recommends that the mounting of your TV on the wall is performed by Sony dealers or licensed contractors.

    1. Precautions

      • For more detailed information and precautions about wall mounting, see the Wall-Mount Bracket Operating Instructions and the Installation Information (Wall-Mount Bracket) on the product page of your TV.
      • The wall should be capable of supporting a weight of at least four times the TV weight. Regarding the TV weight, refer to Wall mounting compatible information.
Sufficiently reinforce the wall to which the TV will be mounted if it is not strong enough.
      • Be sure to use the supplied screws and attachment parts properly. If you use substitute items, the TV may fall and cause bodily injury to someone or damage to the TV.
    2. Preparing the required parts and tools

Confirm that you have all of the parts.

      • Accessories for the Wall Mount Unit (SU-WL450)
Only the parts below will be used. The other parts will not be used, so store them with the Operating Instructions in a safe place.

      • Accessories for the TV
The Wall-Mount Attachment “VS” will be used.

        NOTE:
The Wall-Mount Attachment “VS” is included with the TV. Please note that it is not included with the Wall Mount Unit.

      • Other things to prepare
Prepare the types of tools and screws below based on the material of the wall to which the TV will be mounted.

        Electric drill Screwdrivers Pencil
Level guide Four or more screws of 8mm diameter or equivalent One 5mm diameter screw or equivalent
    3. Mounting the Wall Mount Unit to a wall

      1. Deciding on the mount position of the TV
        1. Decide on the approximate “height” at which the TV will be mounted.
Take into account the environment where you will watch TV (such as the sofa) when deciding the mount position such as “height”.

        2. Decide on the mount position of the TV.
Check whether there is enough space (width, height, depth) on the wall to mount the TV.
The clearance dimensions in the figure below are required to prevent heat from accumulating around the TV.

          NOTE:
If the TV is mounted without surrounding clearance, the vents will get blocked and heat will accumulate inside, which may cause a fire or damage.

Figure of dimensions for the space needed to mount the TV. The space needed around the TV is 300mm above, 100mm at each side, and 100mm below.
          Unit: millimeter

        3. Decide on the mount position of the base of the Wall Mount Unit.
Decide on the center position [1] of the TV screen.
The position at a length of c(figure below) above the center position is the position of the screw holes at which the base will be attached.
The length from the screw positions to the bottom edge of the TV is length d.

For the dimensions indicated by letters in the figure, refer to the table below. (The figure is from KD-65X8000H)

The left figure is the dimensions of the back of the TV (a: TV width, b: TV height, c: length from the center of the screen to the position of the screw holes at which the base will be attached). The right figure is a side view of the TV. (d: length from the bottom edge of the TV to the screw hole positions)

          55X80xxH 1,243mm 718mm 133mm 494mm
      2. Choosing the wall mounting style.

Choose between two installation methods: Standard, which creates space between the wall and the TV, or Slim, which brings the TV closer to the wall. With Slim mount, the TV feels integrated into the wall, allowing for a more streamlined appearance.
The installation process differs depending on the mounting style.

        NOTE:
If you choose the Slim mount, use of the inputs on the back may be limited.

For the dimensions indicated by letters in the figure, refer to the table below. (The figure is from KD-65X8000H)

      3. Mounting the base to the wall
        1. For Standard mount, attach the base adapter to the base.
Confirm the “b” positions in the figure below for the attachment positions.
          * For Slim mount, attaching the base adapter is not required.

Connect the power cord, antenna cable, and HDMI cables before mounting the TV on the wall. Once you mount the TV on the wall, you will not be able to connect the cables. Make sure to connect them before mounting the TV on the wall.

        NOTE:
If you choose the Slim mount, use of the inputs on the back may be limited.

      4. Detach the Table-Top Stand from the TV.

Remove one side of the Table-Top Stand at a time. Firmly hold the Table-Top Stand securely with both hands while the other people lift up the TV.
Repeat the previous step and remove the other side of the Table-Top Stand.
        The figure is from KD-65X9500H.
