Preparation
Check the firmware version
If the firmware version is 1.0.3, you do not need to perform the update. If you're not sure, it's easy to check which firmware version you have:
- Launch the Sony | Headphones Connect app.
- Connect your headset to the Sony | Headphones Connect app.
- Press the three dots (Menu button) in the upper right corner.
- Select the device version shown in the Menu. This will only be shown when the headset is connected to the Sony | Headphones Connect app.
- Confirm the firmware version.
Important Notice
- Do not turn the headset off or tap the (Power button).
- Do not perform the update in a location where the Wi-Fi signal is inconsistent or congested, such as on a train or near a microwave, cordless phone, or any other devices that use the 2.4 GHz band frequency radio waves.
- Make sure both devices (Android/iPhone and the headset) are fully charged.
- Disconnect all other Bluetooth devices such as wearable devices or smart watches from your Android device/iPhone before starting the update.
Before you upgrade
- Please update to the latest version of the Sony | Headphones Connect app (Ver. 10.4.1 or later).
- Once updated, the firmware cannot be reverted to an earlier version.
- The update process will take approximately 5 minutes to complete.
- Depending on the radio wave environment and your Android device or iPhone, it may take longer to complete.
Download & Install
To update the headset, follow the procedure below:
- Download the data from the server to the Android device or iPhone.
- Transfer the data from the Android device or iPhone to the headset.
- Complete the update using the headset.
Step 1: Install the update
- Launch the Sony | Headphones Connect app.
- Connect your headset to the Sony | Headphones Connect app.
- If you have never connected your headset to the Sony | Headphones Connect app before, follow the on-screen instructions to set up a connection.
- If you have connected to the Sony | Headphones Connect app before, select your headset from the available options.
- The following screen will be shown when the connection has been established. If an update is applicable, the message The latest headset software is available will be displayed. Make sure the headset is connected.
- Press MORE INFO.
- Move to the Update Software screen. Verify that Version 1.0.3 is displayed and press OK.
- The update process will start and take a few minutes to complete.
Note: During the update, the headset will turn off automatically. They will automatically turn back on and reconnect via Bluetooth before the update is completed. - When the software update is completed, press OK.
Step 2: Check the update was successful
After the update, confirm that the new version has been installed successfully by following the steps in the Check the firmware version section. If the firmware version shown is 1.0.3, the upgrade was successful.
Questions & Answers
An update error message appears.
- Press OK.
- Restart the headset (turn off, and turn on again).
- After that, restart the Sony | Headphones Connect app and try the update again.
Even though the update failed during the process, check the firmware version to confirm. If the version shown is 1.0.3, the firmware update was successful. If not, try the update again. You can check the firmware version from the Sony | Headphones Connect app settings. Go to the Check the firmware version section on this page for details.
