How to create an audio CD using Windows Media Player?

Note: Audio CD can also be created with SonicStage of a Windows XP pre-installed VAIO computer.

Note: Windows Media Player 8 allows user to create an audio CD from the source which the user has copyright or where copying is officially permitted by the copyright holder. If user does not have the copyright or the copying approval from the copyright holder, creating a copy of the song infringes the copyright protection law and the user may be liable for the compensation for damage. If in doubt about user's right, please consult a legal party.

There are 2 ways to create an audio file, from an audio CD and from a recorded audio file.

To create an audio file from an audio CD, please follow the steps below.
1. Insert an audio CD in the CD-ROM drive and start Windows Media Player 8.
2. Click the Copy from CD button. Alternatively, click File, Copy and click Copy from Audio CD.
3. Select the check box of the audio file to be recorded.
* Check boxes of the audio files not recorded yet are selected as the default values.
4. Click the Copy Music button and create an audio file.
* The audio file is created in the My Music folder at the factory-shipped state of the VAIO computer.

Note: Windows Media Player creates audio file in the .wma format.

To create an audio CD from a recorded audio file, please follow the steps below.
1. Click Start, point to All Programs, Accessories and click Explorer.
2. In the Explorer window, display the audio file to be recorded.
3. Right-click the audio file to be recorded and click Copy to Audio CD.
* To record multiple audio files, select the required files while pressing the Ctrl key.
4. Windows Media Player 8 starts.
5. Check that the audio files to be recorded are in the playback list and the check boxes of the files are turned on.
6. Click the Copy Music button.

Note: The compatible file types for the creation of an audio CD with Windows Media Player 8 are .wma, .mp3 and .wav formats.

To change the recording options, please follow the steps below.
1. Click Start, point to All Programs and click Windows Media Player.
2. Click the Tools menu and click Options.
3. Click the Copy Music tab and change the following options.

A. Copy Music to this location
- Change button
To specify the folder to which the audio file will be recorded.

- Advanced button
To specify the naming of the audio file.

B. Copy Settings
- File Format menu
To specify the format of the recorded audio file. The default format is Windows Media Audio (WMA) at the factory-shipped state of the VAIO computer.

- Protect Content check box
To specify the use of digital license of the track recorded from an audio CD. Providing the license to the created audio file protects the author's copyright by preventing the audio file from being played back by another computer.

- Copy Music at this quality
To specify the bit rate when converting music. .wma files can be converted at a rate between 48 Kbps and 192 Kbps.
