Why can't an audio CD be created with Windows Media Player?
Windows Media Player 8 can be used for creating an audio CD from the source which the user has copyright or where copying is officially permitted by the copyright holder. If user does not have the copyright or the copying approval from the copyright holder, creating a copy of the song infringes the copyright protection law and the user may be liable for the compensation for damage. If in doubt about user's right, please consult a legal party.
The following are the possible causes why the audio CD cannot be created.
* A writable CD drive may not be connected.
Check if a proper CD drive is connected with the steps below.
1. Start Windows Media Player.
2. In Tools menu, click Option and click the Devices tab.
3. Click the drive that is used to create an audio CD in the displayed devices and click Properties.
4. See if the Recording tab exists.
If no device is displayed or no Recording tab is exist in the displayed devices, the writable CD drive may not be connected or recognized.
* A blank disc may not be inserted in the writable CD drive.
Check if a blank disc is in the drive.
* The writable CD drive may be used by another program.
Exit all programs that may be using the writable CD drive.
* Try creating an ordinary data CD with Windows Explorer.
If the data CD cannot be created, an audio CD cannot be created as well.
* The hard disk drive may not have a sufficient free area.
Windows Media Player stores a temporary copy of the files to a storage space in the hard disk drive before writing them to a writable CD. These temporary storage requires at least 1GB of the hard disk space.
Windows Media Player cannot write to the CD if the hard disk drive does not have sufficient free space to store these images. It is recommended to reserve at least a minimum of 1GB of the hard disk space.
To specify the hard disk drive to be used to store the temporary images, please follow the steps below.
1. Start Windows Media Player.
2. In Tools menu, click Option and click the Devices tab.
3. Click the drive that is used to create an audio CD in the displayed devices and click Properties.
4. Click the Recording tab and specify the hard disk drive that is used for storing temporary image in the pull-down menu and click OK.
* A buffer processing error may occur to a CD-R or CD-RW drive due to the writing speed.
Select a slower writing speed (the default is set to the maximum speed at which Windows Media Player can write data). This is especially effective for USB CD-R and CD-RW drives.
To change the writing speed, please follow the steps below.
1. Start Windows Media Player.
2. In Tools menu, click Option and click the Devices tab.
3. Click the drive that is used to create an audio CD in the displayed devices and click Properties.
4. Click the Recording tab and specify a slower writing speed in the pull-down menu and click OK.
* Try to copy from another audio CD.
If the copying is successful, the audio files to be copied may be damaged.
* Obtain the latest update program for the CD-R or CD-RW drive, if available, to see the problem can be resolved.
* Try using other CD medium.
Problems sometimes occur in the combination between a particular CD-R or CD-RW drive and writable CD media of particular manufacturers.

Solution: Windows Media Player displays the message Will Not Fit after creating music CD.
Note: Music copied to a CD-R or CD-RW medium cannot be played back in some commercially available CD players in the market.
