How to restore backup image of the complete computer via
Backup and Restore Center?

In Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows Vista Business, you can use
Back up computer in
Backup and Restore Center to restore backup image of the entire computer, such as programs and system settings.
Regarding how to restore the entire backup computer, please refer to the following information.
Note:
When you restore backup image of the entire computer, you cannot select restoration of individual item.
After you restore it, current programs, system settings and files will be replaced.
Before you restore it, please confirm whether the backup image is at the latest state.
In addition, before you restore it, please confirm whether the backup files saved in the removable hard disk is available.

If you restore the computer by using recovery CD, you should create recovery CD.

- After VAIO icon displays on the startup screen, please press F8 key continuously.
- Press arrow keys on the keyboard and select Computer Recovery, and then press Enter key.
- After System Recovery Options appears, click ▼ to select English, and then click Next.
- After the following interface appears, click ▼ to select administrator in User Name, and then click OK.

If user account of administrator has set up password, please input password, and then click OK. |
Note:
If administrator account hasn't set up password, you cannot perform the following operation even though you click OK.
- Connect the hard disk with backup files, or insert the CD with backup files.
- Click Windows Complete PC Restore.
- Check Restore the following backup (recommended), and then click Next.
Note:
If you have several DVD backup CD and insert the last CD firstly, the system cannot recognize the backup files.
In addition, after you insert one CD, please refer to the information on the screen to replace other CDs.
Reference information
If you need to select a different backup, please check Restore a different backup, and then click Next.
If you have the files that need to back up, please check hard disk connection, or repeat operations after you insert CD.
- After you have checked the displayed information, click Finish.
Message:
Windows Complete PC Restore is ready to restore your computer using the following backup:
Location:（Any drive）
Date and time:（Backup time）
Computer: (Computer name）
Disks to restore:（Restore drive）
- After the confirmed interface appears, please check Delete all existing data and restore backup, and then click OK.
Message:
Windows Complete PC Restore will delete all existing data in the hard disk.
- System Restore starts.

According to the size of restore data, this process will take several minutes, please wait.
- After the restoration is finished, the following information will display, please click Restart computer now.

How to restore the computer by using recovery CD? |

Remark
If you restore the computer by using recovery CD, you should create recovery CD.
- In startup status, insert recovery CD, and then shut down the computer.
- Restart the computer.

- After System Recovery Options appears, click ▼ to select English, and then click Next.
- After you have confirmed that the Microsoft Windows Vista displays on the Operating System, click Next.
- Take out the recovery CD, and connect the hard disk with backup data, or insert the CD with backup data.
- Click Windows Complete PC Restore.
- Check Restore the following backup (recommended), and then click Next.
Note:

- Insert installation CD of Windows Vista, and then shut down the computer.
- Restart the computer
- After the Press any key to boot from cd or dvd... appears, please press any key. Start Windows by CD.
- After the Install Windows interface appears, install the language, and then click Next.
- Click Repair your computer at the left bottom of the interface.
- After you have confirmed that the Microsoft Windows Vista displays on the Operating System, click Next.
- Take out the recovery CD, and connect the hard disk with backup data, or insert the CD with backup data.
- Click Windows Complete PC Restore.
- Check Restore the following backup (recommended), and then click Next.
