How to start the computer in Safe Mode in Windows Vista?

    Starting the computer in safe mode in Windows Vista.


    Safe Mode is a special diagnostic mode to resolve when Windows cannot start normally. When this symptom occurs, please try to start Windows in Safe Mode.
    When starting Windows in Safe Mode, not all devices can function normally.
    Display Resolutions will be decreased and the displayed color quality will also be limited.

    Note:

    The following is an interface of the operations according to the related information.
    Different computer models have different information and interfaces displayed.

    Cannot start Windows normally

    1. When connecting the computer to the power, shut down the computer first.
    2. Restart the comouter, and press F8 immediately.

      Reference information
      If the computer cannot be started after pressing F8, please refer to the steps below.

      1. Start the computer, and press F5 immediately.

      2. If Windows Advanced Startup displays, please press F8.

    3. If Advanced Boot Options displays, please select Safe Mode, and then press Enter.
      Windows Vista is loading displays.

    4. In the interface of user selection, click User Name.
    5. Type User Name and Password, and then click  .
      ※ If no password has been set yet, do not type anything in Password. Click . 
    6. When Windows Help and Support displays, please click ×(Close) button.
      If Safe Mode is displayed on the four angles of the interface, this indicates that the computer is in Safe Mode.

      Note:
      To Windows Vista Normal Mode, please click Start-Shut down-Restart.

    Can start Windows normally

    1. Start Windows.
    2. Click Start, type msconfig in the Search bar, and press Enter.
    3. In User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
      For standard users, please refer to the following related information.
      If User Account Control dialog box does not appear, please refer to the steps below.
    4. Click Boot.


    5. In Boot options select Safe boot, and then click OK. 


    6. When System Configuration appears, click Restart to restart Windows.


    7. In the interface of user selection, click User Name.
    8. Type User Name and Password, and then click  .
      ※ If password has not been set yet, do not type anything in Password. Click .
    9. When Windows Help and Support displays, please click ×(Close) button.
      If Safe Mode is displayed on the four angles of the interface, this indicates that the computer is in Safe Mode.

      Note:
      Please refer to the steps below to restore the computer to the default value.

      1. Click Start, type msconfig in Search bar, and press Enter.
      2. Click Boot.
      3. Deselect Safe boot in Boot Options, and then click OK.
      4. In System Configuration dialog box, click Restart to restart Windows.
      Users can start Windows normally by following the above steps.
