Why doesn't Windows Media Player 8 launch?

As the gwmplayer.exe is still running in the computer memory for about 5 seconds after exiting from Windows Media Player 8, restarting Windows Media Player 8 during the 5 seconds period is not possible.
To resolve this symptom, wait for more than 5 seconds before restarting Windows Media Player 8.
